Games are wonderful, and being a great host is very rewarding. That is, until you are so time pressured that you think you’re going to cry. I mean, you still have to design the game, get figures, clean, and make dinner. Oh yeah, and some people just called to tell you that they are showing up two hours early. I can’t be the only household where this happens. When all this is going down, your only hope at salvation is a quick snack to put out while you throw together an equally quick dinner. This is where most gamers throw out a bag of Frito chips and call it good. Not me, and not you if you’re reading this blog. You want something more. Allow me to offer you a 5 minute recipe that is delicious and gourmet – minted cantaloupe.
This week cantaloupes were $.77 at my store, so I grabbed two and I had mint in my garden. If these ingredients are a bit more, it is still worth it. What you are left with is light and refreshing. This can also be made the night before and stored in the refrigerator for even shorter game preparation time.
Ingredients
1 cantaloupe
2 heaping teaspoons cup of mint leaves
Directions
Cut the cantaloupe in half. Remove all the seeds. Remove the skin. Cube the cantaloupe. Mince the mint leaves. Transfer the cantaloupe to a bowl and add the mint leaves. Toss and serve.
